Samsung Group is launching an all-out effort to address the high level of unemployment rate among the youth in Korea. Previously in August, the group announced a comprehensive plan for creating jobs for the youth. Under this plan, the group plans to invest 100 billion won over the next two years to provide the youth with the opportunities of getting jobs or job training.

Kwon Oh-hyun, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, said, “As a way to fulfill our responsibility as a corporate citizen, we will focus on creating more jobs for young people and realizing a virtuous cycle between employment and growth.”

Among the 30,000 youths who will be given job and education opportunities, Samsung Group plans to select 10,000 people to work at its new worksites which are under establishment or are scheduled to be established within the next two years.

Samsung also plans to expand the number of the industry-academy cooperation departments at 29 universities, nine vocational schools, and 26 high schools. These departments were created to foster young talents tailored to meet Samsung’s specific needs.
