Hyundai Motors has shipped a cumulative 1 million units in the U.K. since it first jumped into the market 33 years ago, according to the auto company.
When the local vehicle maker first made forays into the nation in 1982, it sold 2,993 units including the then flagship model Pony. In 1988, the number of sales hit 10,000 and in 2005, the figure jumped to 30,000.
Last year, the company sold 82,000 units and it is expected to sell around 90,000 this year.
Hyundai UK boss Tony Whitehorn said, "Hyundai is the fast growing auto brand in the U.K.," adding, "The best advertising is consumers can see a number of Hyundai cars on the street at first hand.”
