Samsung Group has carried out a reshuffle of its chiefs for 2016, according to the nation’s largest conglomerate on Tuesday. The group promoted Samsung Electronics' vice president Koh Dong-jin to the chief of its IM division. Samsung Electronics’ head Shin Jong-Kyun, who had a dual role at the IM position, handed over the position to Koh, and remained as chief of Samsung Electronics.
Lee Seo-hyun, the group founder's second daughter and chief of Samsung C&T Corporation's management planning division in fashion business, was promoted to supervise the entire fashion business.
Samsung C&T Corporation's traditional four chiefs system has changed into three chiefs system comprising of Choi Chi Hun in construction, Kim Shin in trading and Kim Bong-young in resort areas.
Yoon Joo-wha, who served as head of fashion business, has moved to head of Samsung's CSR committee.
The reshuffle was relatively small with six presidents and one vice president promoted and eight were moved. There was no major reshuffles in financial sectors including insurance, securities and card businesses.
The number of presidents dropped by one to 52, compared to last year. The average age edged up from 53.7 to 54.8. Most presidents were born in the 1960s. Industry watchers said this is reportedly the first major reshuffle of the group done by Lee Jae-yong, de-facto chairman of Samsung Group.
