An Asiana Airlines flight bound for Kansai International Airport in Osaka from Incheon, arrived at Kansai International Airport 2 hours and 44 minutes behind the original schedule due to landing gear problems.
Asiana Airlines flight OZ-116 took off from Incheon International Airport on December 1 at 19:10 and was scheduled to land at Kansai International Airport at 20:50. When OZ116 was about to land, the crew noticed an indication of some issue with its left side landing gear. Flight OZ116 had to turn around 4 times before touching down with 149 passengers on board.
Trying to make a landing several times, the pilots requested the control tower to visually check whether its left side landing gear was properly deployed. However, it was so dark that visual inspections were almost impossible. After turning around 4 times, the flight finally made a landing at 23:34, two hours and 44 minutes behind schedule.
“The dashboard in the cockpit that engaged the lowering of the landing gear malfunctioned, so the pilots couldn’t make any judgment. They asked the control tower to check it visually,” an official from Asiana Airlines said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) is known to have launched an investigation into what caused the dashboard malfunction.
