Lee Young-soo, Principal Research Engineer of the Division for Applied Robot Technology of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology was inaugurated as new President of the Incheon IT Promotion Agency on Oct, 22.
"Incheon IT Promotion Agency (IITPA) as a central organization of IT will try its best to lead informatization for Incheon and its citizens and play an important role to attract information and communication technology related research institutes at Song-do. That will increase the power of IITPA's brand image as well as the development of the IT industry in Incheon Metropolitan City," Lee said in a press conference on Nov. 2.
"Talking about the current IT industry of Incheon, unfortunately there are no major firms such as Samsung and LG. At the same time, we don't even have culture technology-related firms yet even though software and service industries are in a boom here", he said. "Along with the realization of the ubiquitous city and the opening of Robot Land on 2012, Incheon city will play an important role to provide a lot of opportunities to IT firms by introducing new sorts of systems in the field of IT based on redevelopment of the city and providing various types of content in the field of IT convergence," he added.
"In order to establish informatizational industry, I think the IIPTA needs to make an educational-industrial complex by attracting information and communication technology-related research with firms and universities that are located near Incheon. This complex will have a lot of chances to develop high-end technologies by small and medium sized companies and also create a lot of jobs too. That means, no doubt, it will also provide positive factors on economic situation. In addition, experiences of major firms' technologies are and how they deal with their business are also essential parts for IIPTA to make in the near future," he concluded.
