Lotte Duty Free said Thursday it acquired a duty free patent from Japan's Tokyo Customs. This is for the first time that the Japanese government allowed a patent for a duty free shop in the Tokyo area. The store will be open in March with a size of 4,396 square meters near Tokyo's Ginza Station.
The Ginza area is the nation's main shopping and tourism district, which attracts around 20 million people every year.
Lotte plans to expand the duty free business in the nation based on the deal.
