Korean Air's pilots union is on course for strike, by calling for the yeas and nays, media reports on Tuesday. The union's 110 members gathered in front of the headquarters of the firm on Tuesday afternoon for the voting.
Lee Kyu-nam, head of the union, said, "We decided to call for the vote as the negotiation for wages and collective agreement broke down last year."
The union said, "The company's top brass is pocketing jaw-dropping salaries at the sacrifice of employees," adding, "Although more than 140 pilots left the company last year, the management is only making a lame excuse."
Earlier in December, the union submitted a written application for mediation to the Central Labor Relations Committee.
