
South Korea's Internet of Things market has grown 28 percent to 4.8 trillion won in 2015, compared to the previous year, according to the market experts.
By business, the sales of relevant devices accounted for around 2.2 trillion won, taking up the most portion with 45.8 percent, followed by network sales with 1.4 trillion won (30.9 percent).
By service, customized services (smart home, healthcare and loss child prevention) took up the largest share with 31 percent, followed by payment service (store sales management and NFC payment) with 19.5 percent and culture (book management and tourism information) with 8.5 percent.
The number of local IoT companies currently stands at 1,212. Among them, service companies take up the most with 551(45.5 percent), followed by device with 319(26.3 percent), network with 174 (14.4 percent) and platform with 168 (13.9 percent).
The number of IoT personnel increased 4.2 percent to 22,737 in 2015, compared to 911 of the previous year. The figure is expected to rise 11.8 percent (2,693) this year.
