A tech seminar labeled "Innovation on big data through the technology integration of nano and information technology" is set to be held at Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information on March 17.
The seminar is co-hosted by KISTI and Creative Economy Policy Forum, and co-organized by National Nanotechnology Policy Center and Forum Big data Future. It is also sponsored by Korea IT Times, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and National Information Society Agency.
"The panels are expected to discuss how nano -- source of future technology innovation -- and a big data industry -- a new paradigm and new growth engine in the ICT -- can give influences on a manufacturing sector," the KISTI's official said.
During the seminar, the panels will also discuss how nano technology can contribute to national economic competitiveness via synergistic convergence of information, bio and energy technologies.
Nano Technology, bringing about innovation across industries including steam engine, electricity and semiconductor, is expected to overcome the technological limitations and contribute to the eco-friendly development, according to industry watchers.
In 2014, the semiconductor process using 14 nano meter technology was first commercialized. The following year, a quantum dot television using nano materials was launched. On the same year, the World Intellectual Property Organization picked 3D printers, nano technology and robot technology as three technologies to lead the future economic growth.
The nano convergence industry's sales per person is 930 million won, 1.7 times the manufacturing's 530 million won.
