The Korea Electric Power Corporation is set to export its charge infrastructure and integrated operation system of electric vehicles to Ecuador.
Kim Si-ho, vice president of KEPCO, said Sunday he met with Ecuador's MCPEC deputy minister Santiago Leon Abad at Swissotel on Mar. 10 to sign a memorandum of agreement.
The power corporation plans to push ahead with building charge infrastructure for electric vehicles and its integrated operation system worth a total of $300 million through the deal. It is set to secure the business budget through loans from Economic Development Cooperation Fund.
Since August, KEPCO has conducted feasibility study on charge infrastructure for electric vehicles in Ecuador's three cities including Quito together with PNE Systems, EverOn and Begin WN.
Through the study, KEPCO has completed design for public charge stations in 91 spots near highway in the cities. Ecuador is expected to apply the standard for EV infrastructure to its national standard based on the business plan.
Also, the both sides agreed to cooperate technology exchange in new energy business in ESS and AMI as well as information exchange in power business.
