Korea's telecom carrier KT said Thursday KT-led 5G communications network management technology was approved as the draft for the global standard during the fifth ITU-T IMT-2020 conference.
The conference adopted the draft for standard document related to 5G network management and it is expected to be finally approved at the Study Group 13 of ITU-T.
That was the outcome after Korean ITU committee set up a task force for ITU-T IMT-2020 and reviewed the plat at a national level. Especially, international standard for communications was used differently for wireless and wired sectors. So, telecom carriers felt burden to set up a new communications network whenever their new technology is standardized.
However, through KT's this 5G international standardization, it can significantly reduce the cost.
KT has led standardization of 5G quality of service for high quality 5G service by setting up ITU-T IMT 2020 focus group last year.
