The fall seminar of the 2009 Korea Information Telecommunication Facilities Engineering association was held at the Future Convergence Technology Hall in Korea University on Nov 20, 2009. Many scholars and experts of network and security have participated in the seminar to discuss the system security and solutions for DDos attacks.

Shin Jae-ho, President of the Korea Institute of Information & Technology Facility Engineering, made an opening remark. "This seminar consists of various keynote speeches and presentations by experts in the industry as well as distinguished scholars. The topics cover next generation high-speed wired/wireless networks, telecommunication facilities, information technology systems, facility environments, fiber optics, and more." He continued by saying, "Recently, the importance of security in IT technology has gradually increased. Especially, the cases like the 7/7 DDos Attack and recent military security hacking require more systematic solutions. The government is aware of the problem and is trying to establish new policies with help of the IT industry. This seminar is to check the current status of system security and to discuss the solutions for DDos attacks."

After the opening remark, Lee, Myung-su, the director of Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), followed with his congratulatory remark. "The Internet has become the foundation of most businesses today. Due to Internet, people can get their information anytime and anywhere. It is very convenient and beneficial. However, some people misuse the Internet for their own greed," he said, "the seminar is for facilitators to share information and to improve the technology. Furthermore, the collaboration between government and industry is needed to prevent cyber attacks. Through new government policies and education, we should find better solutions to create safer Internet environment."
