Samsung SDI joined hands with Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) to promote energy storage solution into the global market.
The company announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the state-run electric utility to jointly promote new energy deals at KEPCO’s headquarters in Naju in South Jeolla Province on April 19.
Under the agreement, Samsung SDI will join the ESS biddings placed by overseas power companies in partnership with KEPCO. Samsung SDI and KEPCO will work together to develop smart energy grids for homes, factories, farms, towns and factories.
They will also jointly carry out overseas ESS export projects in North America and Southeast Asia and Samsung SDI will supply batteries optimized to each project.
ESS is a large-capacity battery which enables the storage of the electricity produced by new recyclable energy including radiation, chemical, gravitational potential and Kinetic and the use of such energy whenever needed. The demand for ESS is growing as it ensures stable and efficient power management.
