Samsung SDI is exhibiting at Auto China 2016, which kicked off on April 25 in Beijing. Samsung SDI, the battery and chemical arm of Samsung Group, said it would showcase a wide range of EV batteries, from quick-charging battery cells, standard modules and cylindrical batteries to modules and packs.
The operation of Samsung SDI’s EV battery production lines are based on the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) system, which is modeled on the worlds’ best semiconductor manufacturing management technology used by Samsung Electronics.
Samsung SDI said: “Managing all products’ production and quality control processes by utilizing the MES system helps us extend our track record of ‘zero-recalls’ in the small IT device battery business into our EV battery business.”
Samsung SDI’s quick-charging battery cell is high-capacity and highly durable so that it suffers no deterioration in performance even if it charges quickly to over 8o percent repeatedly within 30 minutes.
Thus, it is good for operators of commercial EVs who want to run services in the morning and in the afternoon by having EVs charged quickly during their short lunch break. Samsung SDI’s quick-charging battery cell will help maximize the use of commercial EVs.
A Samsung SDI official said: “We expect that the rollout of quick-charging battery cells will help us strike lots of deals in the future.”
