
On May 2, Korea’s largest telecom company SK Telecom said that it signed a memorandum with the Iranian government and energy companies to export its infrastructure management solutions based on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
SK Telecom and NIGC will be launching a LoRa-based trial remote gas meter reading services for 5,000 households in Tehran which size is up to 4 trillion won.
LoRa is an international IoT standard technology developed by about 200 global companies such as SK Telecom, IBM and Cisco.
SK Telecom said it plans to will export its IoT network infrastructure with related network equipments and IoT solutions, including 3G and long-term-evolution services while Iran’s energy and tech giant ARSH Holdings will be responsible for the operation.
“We will do an important role in Iran's economic growth by offering our IoT network systems ,” said SK Telecom CEO Jang Dong-hyun.
