Korean IT services company SK Holdings C&C has joined hands with IBM to develop artificial intelligence-based data services.
SK Holdings C&C CEO Park Jung-ho and David Kenny, general manager of IBM Watson, signed a strategic partnership at IBM Watson’s headquarters in New York on May 4, SK Holdings C&C said on May 9.
Under the partnership, SK Holdings C&C, the information technology services unit of SK Group, will launch the Korean version of the U.S. tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI) system Watson. In addition, SK Holdings C&C and IBM Korea will jointly carry out marketing activities for Watson and SI projects.
This alliance came as the two companies agreed to build an innovative AI ecosystem based on a combination of the Watson cognitive computing platform and SK C&C’s IT services and big data technology across a variety of industries, SK Holdings C&C explained.
Whilst continuing their cooperation on the development of solutions and services for enterprises across various industries, the two companies plan to take the lead in cognitive computing services in the S. Korean market.
