On June 21, Jang Ha-yong, head of the Graduate School of International Affairs and Information Security at Dongguk University, and Monica Chung, head of The Korea IT Times, signed a MoU to set up an industry-academia cooperation system.
The two sides agreed to open and run advanced and re-training programs, both short- and long-term, for the workers of information security companies (including an information security course for top executives); build educational programs aimed at nurturing excellent security experts that the industry demands; promote the use of companies’ security experts as faculty members, cooperate on online, offline PR activities; and join forces for the advancement of both sides.
At the MoU signing ceremony, both sides said that they will launch an information security course intended for CEOs and CISOs in September in order to help companies and top executives leverage their information security capabilities in adapting to this super-connected society and the trend of industrial convergence.
This course, intended for high-ranking civil servants, heads of public institutions, CEOs, executives and heads of major institutions and organizations, will feature lectures on information security delivered by top information security gurus.
Special lectures on ICBM (IoT, Cloud, Big data, Mobile) and a curriculum for businesspeople working in the areas of ICTs, finance, home appliance, car and medicine, will be included. Important issues that CEOs and CISOs should be aware of, such as the importance of industrial efforts for mutual exchanges of information, privacy policy disclosure and the Personal Information Protection Act, will also be taught.
The 12-week course will hold classes once a week.
