LG Display has completed an automotive display panel plant in Nanjing. LG said on Jun 24, “From now on, LG’s automotive display module productivity is going to be grow fast as we start running a plant in Nanjing.”
Up until now, LG Display’s productivity was relatively low because it’s been producing its display panels for TV and smartphone by retrofitting some of the lines. The new plant’s capacity is 20 million units per year, which is double capacity compare to the current capacity.
As LG Display completes the display module production facility, LG has built a tripartite structure in automotive electronics in Nanjing including LG Electronics' auto electronic plant and LG Chem's electric vehicle battery plant.
LG Display plans to make over 10 percent of its sales revenue from auto business. The company earned 690 billion won from the automotive display business last year, accounting for 2.4 percent of its total sales.
