The national brand index of South Korea has placed 4th in the Science and Technology category. Also, South Korea climbed to number nine in the image section, altogether putting South Korea at a superior rank among 30 member nations of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and 20 other capital nations.

The National Brand Committee, being under direct control of the South Korean President and Samsung Economics Research Institute (SERI) announced their index on the 14th. They classed national rankings based on eight categories: economy/corporation, science/technology, infrastructure, information efficiency, traditional culture/nature, modern culture, population, and celebrity.

South Korea ranked fourth in the science and technology category and was found to be the eighth highest in the modern culture section. Lastly, South Korea ranked tenth in celebrity which put the nation into the top 10 in these three categories. In addition, South Korea has an above-average ranking in the economy/corporation section where it ranked the 14th highest.

The research is based both on the real facts of statistical numerical values and on an image where the organization surveyed 13,500 opinion leaders from 26 countries. Among the real national brand index, where South Korea is ranked 19th, the United States topped the index and was followed consecutively by Germany, France, England, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, and the Netherlands.
