Choi Geum-Ho, the department chief of Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, became the first Korean to be elected as a standing committee of the Nomination Committee under APLAC (Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation). Also, the APLAC MRA (Multi-lateral Recognition Agreement) the council has finalized its decision to hold the board meeting in Seoul.
Korea has been an Ex-officio member of the APLAC MRA Council, and Mr. Choi is the first Korean entry into the Nomination Committee.
APLAC Nomination Committee is the core international committee that nominates every committee official. Korea, America, and New Zealand are the committee nations. Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) was elected as a Nomination Committee member for its contribution to the enhancement of international collaboration and the capability enhancement of KOLAS.
According to the international body evaluation in 2008, KOLAS had zero non-conformity, but more credibility than some advanced countries such as America, Japan, and Australia. The evaluation mainly contributed to the successful nomination this time.
