
High-performance traditional feature phones, which are expected to outwit smart phones, will be on the market early next year.
On Dec 14, LG Telecom and LG Electronics said LG telecom will unveil a feature phone(model name: LG-LU9400), equipped with a 1㎓ high-performance CPU, in January next year. 1㎓ processors that have recently been inserted into smart phones with high-performance chips. Which LG Telecom plans to simplify various mobile applications, thereby making wireless internet more accessible for those who are not familiar with smartphones.
Previous feature phones have been usually equipped with 500-600 MHz processors while "zet phone", released by Samsung Electronics in the first half of this year, uses an 800MHz application processor, which is the highest so far. In addition, smart phone such as Omnia II are also equipped with 800 MHz processors.
The soon-to-be-released feature phone, which is a 3.5 inch full-touch screen phone equipped with Snapdragon, Qualcomm's next-generation platform, will feature WI-FI, GPS module, 3.5 φ in-ear headset, and Bluetooth. The phone, optimized for OZ, the name of LG Telecom's wireless Internet, will provide easy access to major Korean web portals like Naver and Daum, making it unnecessary to install each portal's mobile application A LG Telecom insider stressed, "The new phone is designed to go beyond smart phones. So, less tech-savvy mobile phone users will find it easy to use functions that have been so far unique to smart phones.
