
The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) has appointed as new Secretary-General Lee Eun-woo, former president of the University of Science and Technology (UST). Lee’s 3-year tenure as Secretary-General will expire on July 31, 2019.
Lee received his bachelor's degree from Busan National University and his master's and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in the US. Lee passed the 18th Senior Civil Service Exam for Technology with the highest score. In 1983, Lee started his career as a civil servant at the Ministry of Science and Technology (now the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning); Lee served as Director of the Science and Technology Foundation Bureau. He later headed up the International Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of Education.
