The alleged explosion of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 unnerved Samsung SDI to a great degree on Aug 24 because Samsung SDI’s 3500mAh batteries were supplied for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
If it turned out that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 at issue was equipped with a battery manufactured by Samsung SDI, Samsung SDI could lose consumer trust in its batteries and sales of the Galaxy Note 7 could be negatively affected.
Samsung Electronics said, “Samsung SDI batteries are not the only batteries that we used for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. We will confirm the manufacturer of the battery.”
A Samsung SDI official said: “Samsung Electronics will announce the result of its inspection. We are not in a position to answer any questions.”
Wednesday, 24 August at 8:25 AM, a Korean smartphone user wrote a post titled “Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging” on the message board of an online community dedicated to mobile phones.
The user wrote, “My boyfriend’s Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging overnight. It’s been less than a week since he started using the phone.”
“I was woken up by a large bang and the smell of smoke.” She added. She also posted photos of her boyfriend’s charred Galaxy Note 7 with a cracked screen.
