The opening ceremony of Starfield Hanam -- the first-of-its-kind shopping-themed entertainment park jointly developed by Korean retail giant Shinsegae Group and US shopping mall developer Taubman-- was held on Sept. 9.
The opening ceremony was attended by Shinsegae Group vice chairman Chung Yong-jin and Taubman Centers Chairman Robert Taubman, etc.
“We hope Starfield Hanam will become the pride of S. Korea," said vice chairman Chung Yong-jin at the opening ceremony.
Chung has said on various occasions that his mother, Shinsegae Group chairwoman Lee Myung-hee, inspired him to start this project. “My mother said that we should build a relaxing, sophisticated getaway place for stressed citydwellers on the outskirts of a city. We studied international best practices for benchmarking and skimmed the cream off. We worked hard and we are about to see our hard work coming to fruition.”
