Lee Myung-bk addresses Ministry of Knowledge

Since Nintendo opened their latest subsidiary Nintendo of Korea back in July of 2006 and Nintendo DS Lite was the first console to be released by the subsidiary and was released in January of 2007. With growing popularity of Nintendo DS and other portable gaming device, why is there no Korean based console system

Lee Myung-bak addressed this question during his visit to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy stated, "A lot of our elementary school children have Nintendo [DS]. Why can't our companies develop products like that" President Lee wants to shake the Korean game industry to rival that of Nintendo and Sony.

If the Korean government could find a way of supporting the software industry better, helping out developers like Pentavision and NCsoft, then maybe Korea might get the ball rolling.
