By the influx of Apple's i-phones into Korea, top domestic cell phone manufacturers, such as Samsung and LG, are having second thoughts on their own impact adhesive smart phones. More than half the cell phone users in Korea have Samsung or LG's smart phone, creating a new trend of Users Interface. Does 'touch phone' sound familiar This smart phone or touch phone should be fairly self explanatory for the current trend of Korean cell phone industry evolves around this impact adhesive technology embedded in most cell phones.
This technology involves sensing of the finger's pressure so fingernails and thin, pointy pen tips will work delicately on these touch phones. However, compared with i-phone, where it recognizes the sense through static electricity, it falls behind in cognitive speed and durability. In addition, i-phones are better than domestic smart phones for faster recognition because it is more sensitive to the users' static electricity that runs through the tip of their fingers. Then again, i-phone cannot sense touch if the users wear gloves or use other objects to operate the device. Nonetheless, i-phone's most attractive factor comes from 'multi-touch' where the users can zoom in and out on a specific map or on a web page with using two fingers. Also, downloading free applications that have a variety of functions is appealing to many Korean users who have been paying for each application.
Since many Koreans are taking their minds off on impact adhesive cell phones and swing their attention to electrostatic phones such as i-phone, Samsung and LG are planning to increase electrostatic cell phones as well. Thus, Samsung is presumably going to adopt electrostatic technology to their new model named 'Android phone'. Moreover, LG Electronics are already on the path to supplying 'new chocolate' electrostatic phone. All in all, domestic cell phone market trend is navigating its way into the new trend of electrostatic phone.
