The government assigned the innovative 'e-learning' technology and the game server technology as the nation's essential technologies to be secured under the technology protection department. Moreover, the government appointed the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and tightened policy and regulation towards the former and incumbent members of the corporation.
Under Korea's Prime Minister, Chung Un-chan, the government opened a committee for industrial technology protection in order to make a significant breakthrough in the Information Technology (IT) market. Korea assigned 5 IT fields, 1 Chosun, 3 biotechnologies, and other 9 technologies are the nation's essential technology; the government will lend US$35.5 billion for five consecutive years to support this new regulation of protecting industrial technologies. Along with appointing the new CSO, the committee for industrial technology protection will regularize one testing every year, track down technologies of Korea's exporting nations for three years, and construct portal websites that protect technologies.
The key areas of the new advanced technologies under protection: e-Learning's intelligent personalized learning management and operational skills, document security solutions for control system, game server technology, object-based audio contents producing technology to control sound, the public key infrastructure (PKI)-based technology for the ubiquitous environment.
