On December 29, 2009, the Korea Communications Commission launched a plan that will provide an experimental high-definition 3D broadcasting station in the beginning of next year. This plan was created in an attempt to successfully provide 3D television broadcasting to the public in the near future. The plan includes broadcasting stations, electronic appliance companies, and research institutes to establish a committee that will work with each other to create a reliable and efficient service. Representatives from different companies including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics gathered at the Seoul Plaza Hotel to create this 3D broadcasting committee. Other people present included Electronics and Telecommunications Institute's (ETRI) chief and a professor from Hanyang University.

The experiment will begin in January of 2010 when the broadcasting system will establish an experimental 3D broadcasting system that will be fully equipped with all the necessary components. By October of 2010, they will plan to implement cable, radio, and satellite stations. ETRI will lead in the research of this experiment.

Lee Byung-kee, a member of this committee stated, "The beginning of 2010 will launch the beginning of high-definition 3D TV experimental broadcasting. This will be the next generation broadcasting which will vitalize the dimensions of electronics."
