The government finalized their initiative to expand on the 'cloud computing' market by investing W614.6 billion (US$528 million) by 2014 and thus enlarge the existing cloud computing system by four times, which is worth W2.5 trillion (US$2.14 billion). Alongside with this grand proposal, the government is also planning to increase such related domestic companies' global market share by 10 percent. More specifically, Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security have revealed 'Cloud Computing comprehensive plan' on December 30 that follows suit the government's program. According to the government's plan, it will introduce the cloud system into many divisions within the Government Regional Computer Center and construct a cloud testing center for many small businesses to test the cloud computing system before it gets applied to every company. This project is significant because it will raise the domestic cloud industry's competitiveness in the world market and enhance efficiency of the nation's IT resources.
There is no definitive definition for Cloud Computing for it is a type of IT service, where the system offers free downloading and use of software through the internet. In other words, employers from a company will utilize costly software through the internet without purchasing the entire program, but pay only the amount that he or she used. Thus, it would take the load off the companies' shoulders, in which, recently, they had to purchase expensive hardware and software and install them to every single computer in the building. However, the cloud computing system allows the internet to do all the work so it can reduce the cost to a huge amount.
