"2010, a New Year of hope, has just came to us. I hope all Korean citizens had good dreams last night. Last year was tough for everybody, but we made a new opportunity to advance successfully into the future during this economic crisis and found a bright light in the darkness." Lee began his speech with a high hope.
"We host the G-20 Summit this year and also achieved long-awaited goal of exporting nuclear power plants. Additionally, we became the first county in the world that emerged from the status of an aid beneficiary to become a donor. All these achievements have been possible due to unification of all Koreans with a mind to work together," Lee continued.
Lee said, "For a New Year of 2010, the government and I will focus on creating jobs and stabilizing the economy by realizing plans such as creating more than 150,000 jobs through the development of national welfare services, 25,000 jobs through social services such as childcare and geriatric care, 46,000 jobs for women who quit working to take care of their children and their families and more."
President Lee also emphasizes that we all should make a better effort on building a caring society so that people in Korea can share and help one another.
