Recently, Apple's App store is arousing controversy about their boundary on sexual adult contents. App store is operated and ran by Apple where it provides various downloadable applications and software for iPhone; it started the service on July 10, 2008, around the time when Apple announced its' launching of the 3G iPhone. It is reported that App store has been full of unauthorized sexual contents that can be easily seen by teenagers. Especially, App store has many free adult contents, in which they do not require credit card transactions that confirm age.
Statistically speaking, 10 out of 100 free, most popular contents are pictures of too much nudity and adult films. The problem lies on the fact that there is no solution to block these free sexual contents from teenagers; although Apple verifies the contents before they get registered on App store, Apple's standard of nudity vastly differs from Korea's standard. A Korean official from the Culture Ministry stated that they are looking into App store's game and other contents and will further announce how they will counteract.
