LGLG Electronics has introduced a broadband TV with built in Skype software featuring free Skype-to-Skype calling. The TV will be first exhibited at CES 2010, one of the biggest electronic consumer shows held in Las Vegas from January 7 through January 10. Since the Skype internet calling software is embedded in TV, consumers can use free internet voice/video calls on big screen TV. The voice or video calls can be made to other Skype enabled devices such as TV, PC, cell phone, etc. LG Electronics has developed a unique algorithm to implement the Skype software and new UI makes it easy for consumers to control TV and use Skype calling. When a customer receives a call while watching TV, it automatically changes to Skype calling mode. If it is a voice call, consumers can keep watching TV with no sound while having a conversation on Skype. The microphone embedded video camera is built on top of the TV, so no additional headset is required. Once ID is saved, the TV automatically logs in when it is turned on. LG Electronics is planning to launch the broadband TV worldwide in the first half of the year.
