Newly merged LG Telecommunications announced that they will launch 20 projects by the end of this year. With the government's support, they will jumpstart into 4-generation telecommunications as soon as their frequency gets assigned. This new project takes in the consumers' need of expanding the data and benefit the IT industry as a whole. Also, together with promoting change and innovation, the company will introduce 'billing per second' that is to alleviate charges on the consumers' shoulders. What Lee Sang Chul, the chief executive of LG Telecom, means by change is pitched in the consumers of not only providing both online and offline, but also giving all operating systems (OS) and platforms.
Mr. Lee, on January 6, had a press conference at his office building and said, "Telecommunications market is already crumbling, but LGT will construct a new form of its industry via strong unification that is held upon fast growth and change." Beginning from next month, LGT will choose projects that target new growth ; specifically, adapting information technology (IT) into small or medium businesses to create unique genre and also focusing on R&D to contribute to smart grid, u-city, and people's welfare. Mr. Lee carried on saying that "Google and Wal-Mart are shoulder to shoulder in market value despite Google's behind in sales and this is partly because Google has the potential of a bright future and Korean Telecommunication giants should cooperate on R&D to revive the IT market."
