The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) is getting ready to allow terrestrial broadcasters to broadcast around the clock and test 3-D terrestrial broadcasting this year. At Present, terrestrial broadcasters' operating hours are limited from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m the next day.

KCC's 2010 operations report was sent to President Lee Myung-bak at the end of the year. The KCC said, “It will also draw up new policies regarding new television channels and advertising markets. The combined value of the two markets was KRW4.2 trillion last year.”

Introducing new broadcasting and telecom technologies is also high on the agenda. The spokesman of KCC said, “3-D terrestrial broadcasting will be tested during the G20 Summit, making Korea the first in the world to test 3-D technology on terrestrial television. The technology will again be tested during the international athletics event in Daegu in 2011 and during the Yeosu International Expo the following year."
