Games were not one of the main themes at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). However, game-themed pavilions turned out to be one of the most visited attractions at this year's CES show in Las Vegas.
This shows that games have truly established themselves as part of daily life. To get a taste of the Gran Turismo 5, a racing video game developed by Sony PlayStation 3, video game lovers had queued all the time inside CES expo hall as Sony introduced three technology demos of games using the stereoscopic effect: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, WipEout HD, and Motor Storm: Pacific Rift. None of them were playable unfortunately. However, the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue demo ran replay laps of various races with a handful of different cars with effective 3D that gives real depth and life.
The Gaming Showcase, a section set aside specifically for game companies, had seen suit-clad people sitting on "Xrocker" game chairs- made by Ace Bayou Corporation- and engrossed in playing video games. The exhibition lineup at the Gaming Showcase was not big, but Dance, Dance Revolution (DDR), D-box as well as online video games had been on view to allow visitors to have fun.
