Does 'Kindle' ring any bells Kindle is Amazon's ebook and the world's first ebook that is causing a seismic wave in the IT industry. This is causing other companies to develop their own ebooks. When Amazon released Kindle into the market in 2007 and by 2008 a mere one million people purchased, Kindle. This year, however, with its' catch phrase 'read, write, share' have inspired curiosity and enthusiasm from people. The main targets are adolescents in their 20s who are most readily interested in networking technology. Experts are rephrasing their sentences that this year, approximately six million ebooks will be sold, almost a double from last year's profit. Ebooks are pouring into the mainstream IT sector that are more advanced and elevated; for instance, ebooks display words in color and the users can even watch video clips. Moreover, Samsung Electronics’ ebook allows input of letters via using pens or fingernails.

According to AP news, there are ten other ebooks that are not only equipped with e-ink, but also have touch-screen search engines and cameras for video chatting. Not to mention, Nook and Daily Edition are rising to become the next ebook innovator. It is expected that Nook and Kindle will meet with cutthroat competition in terms of price and ebook content. On that point, Kindle lowered the price for Kindle2 from US$399 to US$259 and has been selling ebook content for less than US$10.

enTourage system is launching 'eDGe' ebook this coming February; eDGe has two screens and is housed with Google's ANDROID operating system (OS) that allows Internet access and YouTube. Left side of the screen is 9.7-inches with e-ink and the right side of the screen is color touch screen of 10.1-inches. It will be selling at US$490.

The reason behind ebook's success stems from 'convenience'. First, users do not need to worry about whether the book is in stock and can also read a particular ebook anytime without backorders. Moreover, the users can download books, newspapers, and magazines via wired or wireless networks. Most ebooks are able to store hundreds or even thousands of book content and remember there are no returns.
