British Expertise and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in the British Embassy Seoul jointly hosted the '2010 Global Sports Mission to South Korea'. This international event starts from January 18, and will continue on until January 22. A total of ten able organizations have congregated at British Embassy's Aston Hall such as Blue Badge Finder, Davis Langdon and Seah International, Major Events International (MEI), Parallel Media Group, Pinpoint Visualization, RMJM Architects, Polpulous, and Octopus and these corporations specialize in various fields; for instance, mobile content development, consultancy, event planning, media, architecture, and global design. The fact that this event is being held at the British Embassy is significant, for the reason that this social event is strengthening diplomatic ties with Britain and it not only will open doors to British companies, but also to South Korean companies to land and expand their businesses in Britain.
The incentive of this social network gathering targets interaction between corporations from two different countries. At this social meeting, each organizational representative from Britain has presented their skills and expertise to potential clients. Members of each company have come to this meeting to pioneer international opportunities and experience what potential Korea has.
The first day's program was followed by a cultural and social gathering and dinner. From the second day, it will be conducted in a more private meeting where representatives will jump start the global sports mission.
British Expertise, cosponsor of this gathering, is an independent, non-profit organization that provides a bridge between key British and international contacts and promotes British companies and their professional services abroad. Then again, UKTI is the government organization that supports companies in the UK trading internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK.
Managing Director of Pinpoint Visualization Limited, Simon Roper said, "Our company's strength lies in the 3D engine and its' software and our purpose of coming to Korea is not just trade mission, but to obtain constructive feedback and possibly create a joint venture with Korea."
One of the companies at the meeting, Octopus Media Technology enables the storage, management and global delivery of video to any digital device, with unparalleled quality and click-to-play user experience, without the need for any additional software or hardware. Andrew Eborn, both a President and Founder of the company, who recently opened and settled a Korean branch, said, "His main goal of running the firm is to empower the people of exciting rich media and add value to business by providing cost-efficient, easy-to-use, online video solutions." He also added on saying that UKTI events and missions are run to a high standard and provide great networking opportunities and access to high-level contacts and potential customers. Moreover, "Since we started working with UKTI, OctopusMT has gone from strength to strength, year-on-year sales growth and key markets have been opened. Strategic alliances have been formed and business generated. We are very grateful for UKTI's continued support."
