Let the wind fill the sail! Pull up the anchor! KOTRA writes a new beginning in Korean history by building bridge between Abu Dhabi and South Korea. KOTRA announced that they will send one of their workers to Abu Dhabi government and strengthen economic ties with the country. An Seong-Joon, the dispatched worker, has worked at Dubai's KBC as a deputy department head and he will begin working at Abu Dhabi's Department of Economic Development (DED) from February 1st. All the operating costs and expenses of the office will be in DED's hands.
Such motive of KOTRA can be interpreted as its effort to enter Abu Dhabi's industry market since Korea recently won the contract in its nuclear power plant development. First and foremost, there are high hopes on domestic organizations that they will hit jackpot in Abu Dhabi's rapidly growing industry. KOTRA cannot see any other better options than sending in its workers that will give rise to not only doing business in another country but also gaining construction plant project, delivering apparatus, attracting investment of Middle Eastern capital, and reinforcing the two countries as business partners. Moreover, Korea and Abu Dhabi relation is expected to involve small to medium sized companies instead of simply conglomerates dominating the whole government scheme.
Speaking of UAE, there are a total of seven sheikdoms including Dubai and Abu Dhabi and KBC, KOTRA's overseas office, is located at the trading hub, Dubai. Another useful fact to know is that Abu Dhabi has directed UAE's politics and economy in general for some time and the city takes an hour and a half to Dubai by car.
"Ever since Korea obtained the order of nuclear power plant, Abu Dhabi has served Korea as its economic partner and we decided to send our worker to secure a breakthrough in Abu Dhabi's market that is separately operated from Dubai" said Cho Hwan Eik, the president of KOTRA.
