On January 26, according to Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, Ma Chao Xu, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "China wishes America would understand that selling weapons to Taiwan is very complicated and sensitive issue, so please stop selling weapons to Taiwan."

During a press conference, Ma Chao Xu was questioned by a reporter, "America has already decided to sell the "Patriot 3" and other sophisticated weapons to Taiwan. How would you handle this"

Ma Chao Xu answered, "China has constantly opposed Washington's decision and China has stood its ground. Actually China has negotiated a deal with the U.S. to deal with this serious issue. The U.S. needs to quit its plan because it will continue to damage relations between China and U.S.”
