
On January 27, 2010, KOTRA announced that they received a thank you letter from a Korean company in Haiti. The letter was sent by email and is from Yang Hee-chul who is running a sewing factory called Walvis.
Mr. Yang said, "It's been a very rough day for us, most of our local staff are suffering from the damage of the earthquake. We have lost our homes and families." He went on to say, “Fortunately relief money has been delivered, so I could buy daily necessities such as rice, bread, drinking water, groceries, and I delivered it to the staff with words of consolation. On behalf of our staff I would like to say, thank you for your precious devotion."
KOTRA has delivered relief items to Korean companies that have advanced Haiti such as ESD (power plant), Walvis (sewing factory), and Astrocarton (box manufacturing), Twice this month KOTRA has collected US$10,000 by deducting January wages for its employees.
