Korea takes a step closer to being the global leader, more or less a wishful thinking yet, in which Korea Midland Power Company (KOMIPO) takes a stance with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to provide foreign aid and technical support in energy-electricity field to mostly developing countries.
Nam In-Suk the CEO of KOMIPO and Park Dae-Won the CEO of KOICA met on January 27 at KOICA's head quarters in Seongnam and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This officially announces their business aid cooperation on energy-electric power area towards developing countries.
Thus, the two organizations will invite foreign technical workers specializing in energy-electricity, send domestic professionals abroad, investigate on the possibility of development projects, and promote various energy projects that will unsurface new businesses in developing countries and help them get on their feet.
This signing of MOU involves many factors and one of them is that Korea recently joined the Development Aid Committee (DAC) of OECD, placing the country on a giving position rather than the beneficiary. KOMICO, hence, advocates this movement with KOICA to strongly support international aid.
KOMICO, in 2004, helped businesses in Iraq, sent electric power experts to four countries, while inviting 137 Iraqi electric-power public officials to Korea, all in the favor of KOICA and to encourage the national's stand on international support.
