Many netizens have been wondering what Apple's new tablet device will look like and what kind of functions it will have. Apple's new tablet device has been nothing, but speculation and rumors. Finally, Apple unveiled its ultimate thin tablet device under the name of iPad and it turned out to be what netizens were expecting.

When Chief executive Steve Jobs first introduced the iPad at the Moscone Center in San Francisco he said, "We already have laptops. We also have smart phones. The question now is what do we need as a third device I have brought something that might be good enough as a third device and it is called iPad. I want to say the iPad is the most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device and we can provide it to you for a unbelievable price." He continue to say, “It provides you almost every function as the existing PCs and the battery provides about 10 hours of using time and a month of standby time. Unveiled capabilities of the iPad actually cover almost everything you can imagine. It can be used as a portable Internet device, portable phone, portable e-book, portable theater, portable newspaper and even as a portable drawing tablet.”

Under these circumstances, multimedia devices including e-books, Net-books, laptop computers and navigators are not going to be the common interest for buyers who want to purchase a multimedia device. Since laid bared iPad shows ultimate functions and capabilities with its thin size and powerful battery. But it is essential to talk about the real size of the iPad like how it is light to carry.

It is possible to carry the iPad in a bag like many other portable devices. But where are you going to stash a 9.7-inch and 680g multimedia device when it is time to put down your iPad without carrying a bag Unfortunately the answer creates a similar situation that of Net-books. If the iPad is a flexible object like newspapers, magazines and maps, then I bet you are going to go anywhere with the iPad. The iPad already hit the jackpot as soon as it is released and there is no doubt about the fact that the iPad definitely will affect all the other multimedia related businesses. The same way that iPhones affected most of the landscape of the mobile phone industry. However, it seems we might need to wait more years to have a real thin and flexible smash hit portable multimedia device.
