According to Outlook Weekly, Chinese news week for politics and economics, have presented three present misunderstandings between Sino-US relations.

The first, misunderstanding is overemphasizing the role of these two countries on global issues. Even though there are many world powers such as EU, Japan, Russia, India, and Brazil. There needs to be mutual cooperation among all nations to help on global issues.

The second, misunderstanding is overemphasizing the increasing speed of China’s leverage. In recent years China has developed very fast, and nevertheless US is still ahead. It will take China a long time to catch-up to the US, and China will need to overcome many obstacles. However, the US overvalues China's capability to do something for the world. When the two countries work together on the same issue, it should be based on a cool-headed assessment of what one can do or what the other cannot do.

The third, misunderstanding is simplifying the two countries relations. One country only insists cooperation; the other country only emphasizes competition. The communication over major international issues of far-reaching significance and mutual interest eventually leads to teamwork.
