President Lee Myung Bak and Green Committee discuss the seven action plan for Green Growth

The Presidential Committee on Green Growth is pushing through legislation to cut down on the country's carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2020. Green Growth Korea unveiled its seven action plan to reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions and permit emissions trading.

Including President Lee Myung-bak and the Green Growth Committee, a variety of other organizations gathered in the Blue House on the February 3. To discus four major projects to be carried out including the seven action plan advocating green environment.

This act involves methods to trim down carbon emissions, support the development of 10 essential green technologies, reduce food waste and apply an eco-friendly tax system. The key technologies designed to get public to go green include energy-efficient light-emitting diodes, solar energy, a smart electricity gird, hybrid cars, nuclear reactors, and light-water reactor.
