Samsung SDS, global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Service Corporation, proudly confirmed that they finalized their project of relocating OBbeer Inc.'s Internet Data Center (IDC) in China to Korea. This project took six months, starting from July to December of 2009, and during this time there was a two month period of stabilization.
Samsung SDS executed a series of process – consulting, planning, backing up data, transferring IDC, building server, storage, security, network – without experiencing any hindrance and also effectively used their accumulated knowledge and experience. And so Samsung SDS is able to provide immaculate IDC operating service to its customers.
Due to IDC relocation, Samsung SDS is able to provide secure service to users of Korean OBbeer headquarters plus 40 other chains, because it altogether extended low bandwidth found in internal systems and expedited the speed of networking between Korea and China. Also, this project made it possible for IDC and its headquarters to be close together, which created a new workplace and enabled to offer a converged operating service.
"The Recent accomplishments in relocating the data center in China to Seoul were difficult due the large amount of data. I also, can imagine there would have been technical difficulties while transferring the center between borders. However, Samsung SDS achieved the relocation of IDC which is sensational and through this, not only are we able to curb operating costs on the data center and network, but also gain benefits from Samsung SDS's fast and effective operating processor," said Park Jong Han, Information Strategy team leader of OBbeer.
Moreover, "For the future ahead, we will pioneer new IDC service territories with more advanced technology while increasing the effectiveness of eco-friendly technology, which will lead the trend of 'green IDC,’” said Park Kwang Young, executive director from the department of ICT infrastructure of Samsung SDS.
