The Taiwan press has praised President Hu for his gesture towards Taiwan. Lian He Bao, one of Taiwan's newspapers, reviewed China's interest towards the Taiwanese farmers. President Hu told the Taiwanese business people, "We will try our best in everything that will benefit the Taiwan compatriots, and we will honor our words.”
Moreover, Hu visited Taiwanese businessmen just before the Chinese New Year (biggest holiday in China), and it means a lot to them. Cai Wei, a professor at the University of Taipei in Chinese Culture said, "This shows that China cares about the opinions and feelings of the Taiwanese."
