
Korea Display Industry Association's (KDIA) regular general meeting was held at Seoul Kyoyuk munhwa Hoekwan on Feb. 22, 2010.
Kwon Young-soo, CEO of LG Display and Chairman of KDIA, said in his introductory greeting, "Even though we are in a global economic recession, Korean display industry played an important role in the growth and recovery of the Korean economy. In 2010, KDIA will focus on laying the groundwork in creating next generation display market and strengthening the competitiveness in the field of parts and components."
Kwon emphasized during an interview with the press after meeting, "There has been a lot of speculations on Samsung and LG's plans of establishing panel factories in China. However, there is no doubt about the fact that the Chinese government will approve Samsung and LG to build factories in China due to their advanced technology compared to its competitors."
Kwon continued to say, "LG finished the final application for the Chinese government today. The die is cast and now it depends on the Chinese government decision whether they choose technology or politics."
Meanwhile, KDIA appointed Kim Jong-in, CEO of meerecompany, as a new member of board of directors and picked the top four priority projects:
- Win-win collaboration between corporations
- Technical development support
- Continuous promotion of industrial infrastructure
- Advancement of supporting systems to strengthen the global competitiveness
