
President Lee Myung-bak delivered a keynote address on the occasion of global Korea 2010 at Seoul Silla Hotel on Feb. 24. President Lee Myung-bak marks the second anniversary of his inauguration and it was time to look back on his performance for the past two years.
With his keynote address, it turned out that almost half of the Korean people gave positive marks for President Lee Myung-bak's performance during the past two years. This is even higher midterm ratings compared to former presidents.
In a Gallup Korea poll, 46 percent of the people surveyed gave a positive review to Lee's performance, 8.5 percent of those gave an excellent review and the rest gave a good review.
The Blue House yesterday released a press release featuring Lee's achievements during the past two years and it said that Korea earns the chance to host the G-20 economic summit in November, wins a nuclear reactor construction bid, overcomes global financial crisis by leadership in policy making and promotes green growth policies.
Lee's spokeswoman Kim Eun-hye said, "In the third year of Lee's term, the Lee Myung-bak administration will put all their effort to stop corruption in the education sector and to strike at the root of corruption with public servants, local notables and regional media. The president declared a war on corruption for the rest of his term."
Meanwhile, it is also turned out that he marked on a very low review of his communication ability with the public and rewriting the development plan of Sejong City in South Chungcheong as one of biggest obstacle he faces.
