100 people trapped in collapsed buildings in Concepcion; 708 people have died so far.
A violent earthquake, named 'Megathrust' swept Chile early on Saturday, February 27, killing hundreds of people, destroying parts of southern Chile and triggering tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific basin. The magnitude is bigger than Haiti but the death count is less; nonetheless, there are massive repairs required in buildings and other infrastructures. Children left with no parents or separated from their families will be registered and put into needed care.
The center of the quake had a magnitude of 8.8 and the effects of tsunami battered many houses and buildings killing nearly 700 people. Half of the town was covered by the wave and people were left behind in trapped buildings and lots of people were missing. People are making their way to flat land and asking each other of what is going on.
The stores in Concepcion are looted by many people trying to get food and water. Buildings fell down like dominoes and 120 some people are trying to leave the city. The police department and fire department are helping, but this is not enough because there are too many people looting and getting angry for not getting accurate care.
