In an interview with the Korea IT Times Chae Jong-won, President of Digital Cube, said: “The company will lead the portable convergence market based on advanced technology, design and overall quality.”
He also said that Digital Cube will introduce Mobile Internet Device (MID) products armed with new technology in the latter half of this year.
“By actively using existing overseas sales networks, Digital Cube will explore overseas markets including Northeast Asia, Africa, East Europe and Latin America,” he said.
Last year, Digital Cube introduced the I-Station T5 that launched with a user-oriented innovative 3D graphic user interface (GUI) to the market. The T5 is quickly gaining in popularity among early adopters by presenting fantastic visuals and fresh amusement with a touch-type intuitive 3D GUI.
It also tided over its capacity limit by expanding storage capacity to the maximum 48G by supporting both flash memory and hard drives.
The I-Station T3 is becoming especially popular among female customers including students, thanks to its slick design, slim size of 18 mm and light weight of 205g. It also comes in a variety of colors including white, pink, and purple.
By introducing a low electric power system, the company also improved the battery regeneration time by 40 percent compared with existing products.
Digital Cube
Digital Cube is a leading company in the portable convergence field. It accounts for more than 50 percent in the PMP industry.
In the past, it was recognized as a PMP company. The company, however, introduced a navigation PMP product in 2007, suggesting the possibility of convergence model.
In early 2008, Digital Cube also advanced into the electronic dictionary market, showing off its power as an impressive growth engine.
“We always have been putting forth our best efforts to fully satisfy customers' new demands by differentiating our products from existing ones. We are now making all-out efforts to match the desires of both early adopters and public consumers,” said Chae.
“Digital Cube will develop into a powerful mid-size company from a promising small company and present models that both shareholders and customers will want in the future. At the same time, we will continuously maintain our high degree of ethics down the road,” he said.
A top manager said that Digital Cube will jump into the ranks of global IT companies under the close cooperation with Telson, a mobile phone and multimedia specialized company.
Digital Cube has led the convergence market based on its accumulated convergence equipment know-how and advanced technology, whereas Telson has been highly recognized for its excellent production ability of mobile phones and multimedia equipment.
“I am confident that the bilateral cooperation between Digital Cube and Telson will generate great synergy effects in the technology innovation, quality improvement, development of A/S system and new products,” said Chae.
“Based on more powerful IT power and massive production, Digital Cube will grow at a rapid pace by suggesting a fresh vision and high value in the future,” he said.
2009 Digital Equipment Trend

“In a nutshell, companies should win the competition in terms of light weight, slimness, battery, storage capacity, design and UI fields to satisfy customers' fresh needs,” said Chae.
In line with this companies are seeking new ways to create profits by strengthening R&D power, developing new technology and advancing into fresh projects.
For instance, such new products as 3D electronic map navigation, 3D user interfaces (UI) and portable multimedia players (PMP) are gaining favorable responses from customers, he explained.
“Also, Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), called PCs in the pocket, are in the limelight nowadays as devices to lead the ubiquitous era of the future,” he said.
Related to this, digital equipment producers are planning to attack consumers with the following four goals for 2009 - ultra light weight, battery regeneration time, flash memory and good design and color.
Firstly, companies should produce ultra light products to meet customers' needs. The mini fever has spread from desktop PCs to PMPs, digital cameras and MP3 players.
In keeping with the ultra light weight, companies should develop battery regeneration technology to help users PDA, camera, PMP and portable game machines last for longer than before. Related to this, an intelligence-type battery was introduced which reduced weight and size drastically but expanded length of use, span of life and capacity.
Thirdly, companies need to develop new products that support mass storage by using flash memory, the price of which has recently dropped sharply. Flash memory can enhance the stability of equipment and make portable equipment smaller and lighter.
Lastly, they need to attract consumers' interest with unique designs and colors, as well as user-friendly interfaces. Actually, a growing number of people are purchasing products with pretty designs despite their expensive price. Especially, they are required to attract customers' interest with emotional touch technology and user-oriented 3D UI, Chae said.
Asked about his management philosophy, a top manager said, “I am trying my best to create an organization with powerful execution ability. Digital Cube is pushing ahead to enhance price competitiveness through cost saving. Our company is trying to maximize customer satisfaction with strong technology and reliable products and services.”
